A predictable business environment is needed

Prishtina, April 5, 2022 – To discuss the interpretation of tax laws and legal disputes, the unification of the Law on Personal Income Tax with that of the Law on Corporate Income Tax and the submission of financial statements, the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo has organized a meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on Budget, Labor and Transfers and the Tax Committee of AmCham.

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Budget, Labor and Transfers Armend Muja said that it is important to listen to the perspective and voice of businesses, as businesses are the ones most affected by these policies. He stressed that the purpose of the commission he chairs is to create a balance between protecting businesses and protecting consumers. Muja further added how the commission is working on creating a predictable environment for businesses so that success is equal for everyone.

Sami Salihu, Director of the Department for Registration and Taxpayer Service at TAK, also an external member of the Tax Committee of AmCham, said that, so far, two draft laws have been drafted on Corporate Income Tax and Personal Income Tax, but what has changed is only the Corporate Income Tax Law. He stressed that individual businesses are discriminated by this law.

In addition, the members of the Tax Committee present at this meeting expressed their concerns regarding the Law on Personal Income Tax, the Law on Corporate Income Tax, the Law on VAT, tax holidays, etc.
