AmCham calls on the outgoing Government to suspend implementation of the Health Insurance Law

Prishtina, May 17, 2017 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo would like to call on the outgoing Government of Kosovo to suspend the implementation of the Health Insurance Law, specifically the collection of health insurance premiums, planned to begin on July 1, 2017.
AmCham Kosovo believes that there are too many uncertainties relating to the payment and collections of health insurance premiums because of inadequate preparations for implementation of the Health Insurance Law, the coming elections, and then the formation of the new government.
Therefore, AmCham Kosovo strongly recommends that the implementation of the Health Insurance Law and collection of premiums be delayed until at least January 1, 2018, or until the Health Insurance Law is amended per the 2017 Legislative Agenda, whichever is later.
Finally, AmCham Kosovo would like to reiterate the importance of comprehensive dialogue and cooperation with the private sector and other stakeholders in order to ensure the best possible amended law and effective implementation of the law.
