AmCham in support of Women-founded Startups

Prishtina, April 24, 2024 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo organized a productive and interactive workshop on “Women-founded Startups”, to help them with finances and challenges they might face. The meeting was opened by Flandra Marmullaku, Co-founder at Talent Management Services and Chairperson of the Women Leaders Committee. This meeting served as a gathering for women entrepreneurs and those interested in various business fields.

During the engaging session, Albulena Kadriu Sela, CEO of Darn Group, addressed the multiple challenges faced by entrepreneurs in Kosovo. She touched on key topics such as growth mindset, self-directed learning, discipline, perception of failure, societal expectations, and the influential role of role models in shaping entrepreneurial journeys.A key point was Albulena’s advice to join networking groups and to know who knows better than you, rather than knowing the information.

Kaltrina Kadriu Xhemaj, Corporate Finance Executive at British American Tobacco Kosovo, offered comprehensive guidance on the financial landscape of startups. With a focus on financial statements, enterprise classification, and legal requisites, Kaltrina equipped attendees with essential knowledge to navigate the intricacies of financial management in the startup ecosystem.

Elvira Ibrahimi Hoti, CEO & Founder of Accell, then provided invaluable insight into the fundamental aspects of taxation in Kosovo. From explaining business registration procedures to explaining applicable taxes and outlining the responsibilities of the Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK), Elvira’s presentation covered a range of topics essential to ensuring compliance and understanding tax obligations. She also emphasized the importance of meticulous record keeping, including documentation, filing and payment procedures.

As the session drew to a close, Stina Hoxha, Sustainability Officer at AmCham, outlined the path to sustainability and offered pragmatic advice on how to integrate sustainable policies into a business framework. Through her guidance, attendees gained valuable insights into implementing environmentally friendly practices and embracing sustainability as a cornerstone of corporate responsibility.

The workshop provided a rich platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration, empowering women entrepreneurs to navigate the complexities of business with confidence and resilience.
