AmCham organizes a fireside chat with the Director General of Customs

Pristina, July 7, 2023 – AmCham organized a fireside chat with the General Director of Customs, delving into critical topics related to customs procedures, trade facilitation, with the aim of creating a favorable business environment in our country.

This discussion was in the spirit of developing a dialogue between Customs and representatives of the private sector. Participants gained valuable insights into customs regulations, innovative solutions and collaborative approaches to improve cross-border trade and increase efficiency.

The meeting discussed the protection of industrial property, the classification and evaluation of goods, strengthening the dialogue between the private sector and the customs authority. The Director General of Customs, Agron Llugaliu said that the goal of customs officials is to treat everyone equally and despite the problems created and the difficulties they may face, Customs is trying to be on the side of businesses and that they have no purpose of punishing them or making their work difficult. He stated that soon with the new legislation, the Complaint Review Board will be restored, which will facilitate the handling of business complaints.

During the interactive session, participants had the opportunity to discuss the main challenges and opportunities related to customs procedures and compliance.

Blerim Krasniqi, head of the Support Department of the Border Operative Directorate and Besa Fonda, head of the Claims and Supervision Unit, were open to complaints and concerns presented by businesses and expressed cooperation in solving them.
