Prishtina, May 3, 2019 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo welcomes the selection of the U.S. conglomerate, General Electric (GE), for the construction and long-term maintenance of “Kosova e Re” power plant.
AmCham considers that unstable energy supply has continuously caused numerous damages to the local industry making it impossible for its further development especially in the manufacturing sector. In this regard, the selection of the U.S. conglomerate General Electric for the construction and long-term maintenance of “Kosova e Re” power plant comes as a solution to businesses’ requests in increasing capacities in energy generation by securing stable energy supply.
The American Chamber of Commerce believes that, besides securing stable energy supply as a necessity for the development of the private sector in the country, the construction of this power plant will also have an impact in setting preconditions in attracting foreign direct investments. The inclusion of General Electric, which is globally known for its reputation in the energy sector, and of Contour Global, which is also a U.S. company, will create a modern technology and practices in construction and management.
