AmCham welcomes the decision for postponement of implementation of the Law on Health Insurance

Prishtina, December 23, 2016 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo welcomes the decision for collection of healthcare premiums, envisaged to begin on January 1, 2017, which was the main concern of AmCham and the professional healthcare community in Kosovo.

AmCham believes that the upcoming period will serve as a process of comprehensive discussion with all the relevant stakeholders, addressing of all concerns, and elimination of all the flaws that have characterized the implementation of the law up to now.

At the same time, the following period will provide sufficient time responsible institutions to make all the necessary preparations in order for the implementation of the law to find both, public institutions and private sector organizations prepared for its proper implementation. In addition, institutions should initiate an awareness raising campaign for the provisions of such an important law.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo will provide its contribution during the upcoming process of preparations for implementation of the law, which will serve the purpose of ensuring universal access to citizens and residents of Republic of Kosovo to quality basic healthcare services, through establishment and regulation of public healthcare insurance system and that will not jeopardize fair competition.
