Prishtinë, December 12, 2018 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo welcomes the evaluation for the country of Kosovo in the Compact Program from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
Kosovo’s status increasing in this program will provide tens of millions of US dollars more compared to the previous program which will be invested in projects aiming in empowering the private sector in Kosovo by addressing issues that prevent economic growth in the country such as improving electricity supply, as well as weak rule of law.
AmCham believes that the financial support from the Millennium Challenge Corporation is very important in developing new capacities in generating electricity, encouraging electricity efficiency, and also improving decision-making, transparency, and accountability of state institutions by increasing access to public data
AmCham believes that this decision made by the MCC Board of Directors comes as a result of the commitment of the Kosovar society in addressing challenges the country faces as well as of the work done by the MCC team in Kosovo and Millennium Foundation in Kosovo (MFK).
Lastly, the American Chamber of Commerce reminds that the programs of MCC, USAID, and U.S. Government programs in general in regards to supporting Kosovo are evidence of the continuous commitment of the United States of America for the people of Kosovo.
