Prishtinë, 29 October, 2018 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo welcomes the decision of the Government to amend and supplement the tax legislation, particularly the Law on Value Added Tax. The amendment of Law on VAT, which would enable the process of collecting taxes within the country as opposed to the border crossing points, comes as a result of the Ministry of Finance responding to the requests of the private sector and business associations, which is an advancement in the fiscal reform in our country.
Along with other fiscal measures implemented during this and the past few years, the amendment of this law will certainly make Kosovo more attractive in the eyes of foreign and internal investors.
The presence of U.S. brands in Kosovo shows that U.S. investors already view the Kosovo market as more attractive, and the process of foreign brands coming in our country will further continue in the upcoming weeks and months. This will also reflect safety for other international companies that have previously hesitated on extending their business operations in Kosovo.
The active dialogue between the private and the public sectors in the past has resulted in numerous reforms in the environment of doing business which has also been reflected in the World Bank and Heritage Foundation reports, however, in order to maintain the positive trend in this direction, it is of primary importance to consider a continuous public-private dialogue, especially in the empowerment of the rule of law and order.
AmCham is committed to having a constructive partnership with the institutions of Kosovo with the purpose of further improving the environment of doing business.
