Central Bank, KCC and AmCham coordinate proposals for economic recovery

Prishtina, July 2, 2020 – In the framework of regular meetings aimed at coordinating the mutual proposals for economic recovery following the outbreak of COVID-19, the Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo met with the head of Kosovo Chamber of Commerce Berat Rukiqi and the Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo Arian Zeka.

Governor Fehmi Mehmeti presented Central Bank proposals for governmental institutions, by highlighting the need for greater support of the manufacturing industry in the country. At the same time, Governor Mehmeti elaborated on the provisions of the Guideline for Loan Restructuring due to COVID-19, expressing his confidence that commercial banks will support affected enterprises.

On the other hand, heads of both chambers of commerce elaborated on their respective proposals, which include recommendations for financial support and fiscal alleviations for businesses. The joint proposals by the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo also include points of legislative interventions which would enable the implementation of the proposed measures.
