AmCham & KCC urges a swift action from the Assembly for the implementation of measures in support of businesses

Prishtina, June 23, 2020 – The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and the restriction of economic activities in order to prevent the spread of the pandemic has caused all Kosovar enterprises to face difficulties in their operations, the survival of some of which has been severely endangered. In order to support enterprises and employees which have been hit by the pandemic the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo and the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce since the very first days of the spread of the pandemic have sought the intervention of state institutions in order to preserve enterprises and jobs.

Since none of the measures for supporting businesses from the Emergency Fiscal Package have been fully implemented, and due to the need to finish reviewing the budget for 2020 without which none of the measures from the Economic Recovery package can begin to be implemented, demonstration of political consensus and swift reaction from the Republic of Kosovo’s Assembly in reviewing the budget and approving of international deals for financing the measures provided for post COVID-19 economic recovery is demanded.

Finally the American Chamber of Commerce and the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce express their confidence that the delay in implementing the measures from the Emergency Fiscal Package and the launch of the Economic Recovery Package will delay the support of many enterprises which are facing difficulties operating and consequently will delay the country’s economic recovery.
