Prishtina, February 13, 2019 – Development of infrastructure, favorable policies, and reduction of bureaucracy in the municipal level increases efficiency and enables the development of operating businesses in Drenas. This was said during the meeting with the Mayor of Municipality of Drenas, Ramiz Lladrovci, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo in cooperation with the Regional Development Agency-Center.
Mayor of the Municipality of Drenas, Ramiz Lladrovci, in his opening remarks said that increasing the cooperation between the private sector and the institution he leads reflects growth of efficiency and better allocation of the Municipality budget. By pledging to continue creating better conditions in the development of businesses, Lladrovci mentioned a number of foreseen capital infrastructural investments in the Municipality of Drenas in energy and roads in order to facilitate the movement of goods and people. He also said that the Municipality of Drenas is in the drafting stage of a development and urban plan which will allow a better spatial planning.
AmCham Executive Director, Arian Zeka, said that continuously informing businesses on the projects of the Municipality, in which a stakeholder is directly affected whereas the other plays a crucial role in the economy area by drafting policies, is necessary in establishing dialogue structures between sectors which is directly reflected in rapid development of the private sector and higher revenues for the Municipality. Amongst others, Zeka also mentioned that the initiative of the Municipality of Drenas in completing the infrastructure is of great impact since this area in the past made it difficult for operating businesses in Drenas to expand.
Executive Director of Regional Development Agency-Center, and also member of the Board of Governors of AmCham Kosovo, Mrika Macula, said that the Municipality of Drenas by publising data regarding business issues has reflected in this Municipality to be evaluated as the most transparent municipality in Kosovo. Besides this, Macula mentioned that the Municipality of Drenas has managed to decrease the number of bureaucratic procedures which will facilitate the administrative load for businesses.
Chairman of AmCham Manufacturing Committee, Kujtim Gjevori, while praising the low level of bureaucracy in the Municipality of Drenas, said that the need to provide opportunities for further development of businesses which are mainly engaged in the manufacturing sector making up the highest percentage of creating new jobs. He mentioned that some companies in this sector which operate in property given by the Municipality to utilize find it impossible to take loans which would be helpful in their business growth, therefore a creative solution is necessary in addressing this issue. Gjevori also mentioned the need of including the private sector in drafting the development and urban plan of the Municipality.
