Prishtinë, March 20, 2018 – Kosovo’s Customs will continue the dialogue with the members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo in further improving the offered services for the country’s business community. This was the main message from the roundtable organized from AmCham, where member companies had the chance to discuss with the Customs Director, Bahri Berisha, the developments in the customs procedures in the country. The host for this event was the member company, Calabria Sh.P.K.
Arian Zeka, AmCham Executive Director, said that the dialogue between the businesses and the Customs has been improved significantly during the last years, which has reflected in big improvements in customs procedures in the country. He requested that this dialogue continues even further and clarified that this is the purpose of organizing these roundtables.
On the other hand, Bahri Berisha, Kosovo Customs Director, mentioned some of the initiatives that this institution has undertaken lately in further improving the services. He clarified that businesses’ suggestions in stagnations of the fiscal package, which has become effective since January 2018, has been taken seriously and, as a result, most of the challenges have been addressed. Berisha also informed businesses with the developments expected to occur soon in the border points with Albania, where both countries’ administrations, including the policy and customs administrations, will operate in one post. He also added that Kosovo Customs is ready to start the procedures of customs clearance for products with Kosovo as destination in Durrësi’s port, but this needs a political decision from both countries.
Further on, AmCham members informed the Customs officials with the most common challenges that they face in customs procedures, requesting that reforms that improve the business environment to further continue.
