Prishtina, May 10, 2018 – Within the visit of the Iowa delegation in Kosovo, the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo organized today an open discussion with member companies and Dwight Lykins from Provisions Lot F in the Iowa State Research Park. The discussion was made between Kosovar colleges and hotels representatives who mentioned the challenges and difficulties they face in the Kosovar market.
Dwight Lykins said that the development of hotels and restaurants in USA is interconnected with universities and vocational schools in which the skills gained by individuals are essential for their employment. He added that in order to develop the company and to achieve success it is of crucial importance for employees to be skillful in their fields.
Attendants from Emerald Hotel, Villa Gërmia, RIT Kosovo, Kolegji Universi, Heimerer College, and also the Hoteliers Association of Kosovo mentioned the difficulties they face in employing adequate and long-term staff, including also the lack of special schools in enabling people to gain the skills in hotel fields. Amongst others, the discussion was focused also in hotels’ inspecting, the legal framework in Kosovo, and also the relation between education and employment in Kosovar businesses.
