Prishtina, 12 November 2021– The forum organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, focused on the protection of intellectual property and its importance for enterprises.
Isa Dukaj, Deputy General Director of the Agency for Industrial Property, said that industrial property should be registered because there are legal regulations for this. The industrial property protects patents, trademarks, trade secrets and more, he said. Dukaj recommended that the registration of physical and intangible assets be done before launching products and services in the market.
Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Luljeta Plakolli said that intellectual property surrounds us in every possible sphere. According to her, enterprises should systematically protect intellectual property. Plakolli said that any trademark, patent or invention, is protected by law and called on businesses to be more attentive and act in a timely manner regarding their rights. According to her, by protecting intellectual property rights, businesses would have greater additional revenue, market competitiveness and image networking.
Darsej Riza, co-founder of the Digital School, said that years ago there was less awareness about this issue, but that nowadays, there are many opportunities to be educated about intellectual property protection.
“The protection of intellectual property is a minimal investment compared to its later value,” he added.
Kujtesa Nezaj Shehu, Lawyer, at the same time moderator of this forum, said that the difference between one company and another lies in products, services, and innovation, and that all of these can be protected by law.
