Members of AmCham met Neil Pickett, Senior Commercial Officer, U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service at U.S. Department of Commerce

Prishtina, January 25, 2024 – Neil Pickett, Senior Commercial Officer, U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service at the U.S. Department of Commerce, met with AmCham member companies to discuss the challenges and opportunities regarding businesses in Kosovo and in the U.S.

The meeting highlighted recent successes, including the establishment of the commercial court, showcasing the positive impact of international collaboration on Kosovo’s business environment. Furthermore, discussions centered on reshaping perceptions of Kosovo as a reliable market and an attractive destination for business. Attendees acknowledged the need for collective efforts to alter outdated perspectives, aiming to attract increased investment and foster sustained growth.

Another topic that emerged was an emphasis on crafting a compelling narrative to position Kosovo effectively on the global stage. Ongoing efforts were noted to address the image challenge and create a cohesive, positive image identity to attract business and investment. It was also stressed from both sides that barriers to trade between Kosovo and Serbia should be lifted.

The meeting concluded by underlining the importance of public-private dialogue in creating a positive business environment. The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo and the U.S. Department of Commerce stressed the need for continued collaboration between the public and private sectors, fostering a dynamic and mutually beneficial relationship.
