Prishtina, May 31, 2019 – Increasing communication between the public and the private sector is a precondition in stimulating economic growth, improving the business environment and empowering rule of law. This was said during the Parliamentarian Breakfast organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo with members of the Parliamentary Committee for Economic Development, Infrastructure, Trade, Industry and Regional Development.
President of AmCham Board of Governors, Ilir Ibrahimi, mentioned that organizing such roundtables assists in creating a platform which addresses concerns of businesses and in exchanging recommendations in order to foster economic development in the country. Ibrahimi mentioned that, in the past, the dialogue was not completely stable between the private and the public sector, recommending the creation of an adequate dialogue mechanism.
President of the Parliamentary Committee for Economic Development, Infrastructure, Trade, Industry and Regional Development, Sala Berisha-Shala, emphasized the fact that AmCham remains an important partner regarding issues that affect business operations, therefore cooperation with the Commission she leads is necessary. Whereas Vice President of this Commission, Dardan Sejdiu, said that the cooperation with Chambers of Commerce is crucial during this period considering that this year the Law on Internal and External Trade will be drafted. He urged businesses to actively participate in public hearing sessions of this parliamentary committee.
Furthermore, business representatives discussed about issues that affect the manufacturing, trade, and information technology sectors and the overall economic development, thus urging greater dialogue between the public and the private sector.
