Prishtina, January 16, 2019 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo and the Society of Certified Accountants and Auditors of Kosovo (SCAAK) organized a roundtable with businesses and professional accountants to discuss on the comments and recommendations for the Draft Law on Tax Administration and Procedures which comprises of essential amendments compared to the previous law. The Head of SCAAK Quality Control Department, Arber Hoti, informed the participants on the amendments of the law regarding tax returns, self-assessment, payment, interest, credits, refunds, etc. He also presented SCAAK recommendations which aim to facilitate business operations as well as the clarification of certain articles within the tax legislation.
Chairwoman of AmCham Tax Committee, Grese Rexhepi, spoke about the establishment of the Reviewing Board which will help businesses in having their appeals being reviewed and answered within 30 days. She said that transparency within this institution would be even higher with the publication of decisions made from the Board in this regard. She added that the foreseen amendments for the draft law on tax administration and procedures are a crucial step in tax legislation, however, certain issues require further clarification. Whereas, Chairperson of the SCAAK Tax Committee, Fahri Breznica, said that the other important issues that require our attention should also be the taxpayers rights, the Tax Administration approach to them, as well as the documentation of control reports findings.
