Prishtinë, September 27, 2018 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo organized today a roundtable discussion with the Minister of Infrastructure, Pal Lekaj, on informing businesses with the recent developments of this Ministry as well as future plans and their impact in the business community.
Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, Arian Zeka, said that the Ministry of Infrastructure is very important to businesses, especially their operations, adding that, during the recent years, numerous investments have been made in Kosovo which have further improved the transport infrastructure.
Minister of Infrastructure, Pal Lekaj, informed the attendants in this discussion about the recent actions that the Ministry he leads has taken in transport infrastructure improvement and development, including roads, railways, and airports.
Minister Lekaj said that they are working on addressing challenges and problems businesses face in infrastructure, mentioning also the road maintenance. He also talked about the benefits citizens and businesses get from the highway that connects Kosovo to Albania, about the process of concluding the highway to Macedonia, and also other highways in which the Ministry he leads is currently investing, in the Gjilan and Dukagjin highways.
Minister Lekaj mentioned also the investment of the Ministry in expanding the runway of Prishtina International Airport, which will enable flights even in worse weather conditions, while mentioning that the focus of the Ministry will be in increasing safety measures in road infrastructure.
While thanking AmCham on organizing this discussion, he said that the dialogue between the Ministry and businesses enables the Ministry in taking recommendations from them, therefore assisting the Ministry in improving the legislation and better implementation of current laws.
