Prishtina, September 25, 2017 – Arbitration Center of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo organized a training on arbitration and commercial mediation for corporate counsels. This training gathered AmCham member companies in order to introduce them more closely to the alternative dispute resolution and answer all of their questions on the arbitration procedure and the role of mediation.
Attorney at Law, Kujtim Kerveshi served as a trainer on commercial arbitration. He informed corporate counsels on the benefits of commercial arbitration and on how to draft arbitration clauses, as well as the arbitration agreements, which are applicable after the dispute arises. Furthermore, he gave an overview on differences between courts and commercial arbitration, advocating the usage of alternative dispute resolution methods, taking into account its advantages towards the court system, especially in the view of the length of procedure, efficiency and confidentiality.
Shibani Shah, Deputy Chief of Party at the USAID project on Contract Law Enforcement, informed the participants on the benefits of commercial mediation and how it serves the companies better than the court procedure. Furthermore, she also informed the participants on the new draft Law on Mediation. Finally, she explained how the mediation procedure as a service, is also available through the Arbitration Center of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo.
