WEM and Women in STEM celebrate International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Prishtina, February 13, 2024 – The Women in Energy and Mining Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo in collaboration with Women in STEM, organized the event commemorating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Luanda Domi, from Women in STEM Kosovo, moderated the event, and the panelists included Majlinda Daci, Professor and Director of the Center for Sustainable Energy, University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, Evetar Zeqiri, CEO of KOSTT, Zana Vela Ganxha, Professor at the Medicine Faculty, University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, Majlinda Mazelliu, Deputy Director for the Western Balkans, Director for Albania and Kosovo at the British Council, and Elsa Krasniqi, a student at the Faculty of Engineering, the beneficiary of the Global Engineer Girls program.

During the event, the panelists discussed opportunities for girls in STEM. The KOSTT scholarships, internships, and mentoring programs were highlighted, as were the scholarships offered by the British Council in Kosovo for girls in STEM. The panelists called for more encouragement for girls in these majors and urged them to have more confidence and apply. The meeting also covered the Global Engineer Girls program scholarships, with beneficiaries sharing their positive experiences.
